and i'm super excited to get started tomorrow! are you? i know a few friends who are joining us for the first time this year are getting ready and are super excited! can't wait to see your books, sandy & mrs feil! :)
want to see my cover? this is version 2 and i'm MUCH happier with it, rather than version 1 that was peeled off and tossed! LOL!
it's a 6x12 american crafts 3 ring book.
(trying out a new frame for this year. what do you all think?) i covered up the window on the front. i used the chipboard packaging from a pack of jenni bowlin chipboard buttons. covered it with a christmas ledger paper and then covered that with tim holtz christmas tissue tape (LOVE that stuff!). the snowflake is an ornament from target. the center button is teresa collins blingage and the gray rhinestones are from michaels.
i'm so happy i did not settle with version #1. :)
have a fabulous day! i'm off to lynden to meet julie this morning and then to bellingham for a few errands.
Rachel Every year I make a hershey kiss countdown chain for each of the kids...One kiss a day until Christmas. On Christmas Day it's a chocolate fest with a LARGE Hershey kiss at the top. This year it's going to be a Santa's Hat kiss (saw them at Michael's and couldn't resist!!) Would love to win a spot in the class!!

Michelle A tradition that has only been our tradition for a couple of years (but will definitely continue!) is going out in the snowy woods to find the perfect tree, cutting it down, bringing it home, and decorating it while watching "Christmas Vacation" - the best! :)

CONGRATS, Ladies, and thanks, everyone, for sharing all of your favorite holiday traditions! it sounds like we've all got a fun month ahead of us!
rachel and michelle, you should both hear from shimelle today via email getting you all set up on the class roster.
one entry left...
2009 and a look at the finished books...
2009 tomorrow i will try to share a pick of my cover for this year. just 1 more day! :)
and happy sunday of thanksgiving weekend. i'm off to work this morning for another monday/thursday thing, and it's really sunday! LOL! oh, it's oh so confusing.
we're almost at the end of jyc of the past and ready to move on to jyc 2010. i know i'm ready. are you? if you're not, yet, signed up for this amazing class/journey, i'm still taking comments on the giveaway post below through today. i will choose 2 winners tonight for spots in the class. you just need to tell me about your favorite holiday tradition. easy, right?
2009 have a great sunday! i'll see you tomorrow, with the winners of the 2 spots in JYC. i can't wait to see who the random generator is going to pick. :)
and i'll be putting my own finances in the black, not the retail industry's. LOL! i'm headed off to work this morning and, since it's a company holiday, i'll be bringing in double time and a half!!! woohoo!!! better me, than best buy! :) besides, i'm more of an online shopper and i got some GREAT black friday deals at studio calico last night!
we had a great time yesterday at my sister in law's. we had a white thanksgiving and now, it's 40 and slushy out. that's my kind of snow. it's comes. it looks pretty. it goes. all in 24-48 hours. :) here's a couple cuties of my little cutie.
tonight is her mama's birthday dinner, so, more pics to come! :)
we're nearing the end of the JYC revisit, and that means we're nearing the start of this year's version. woohoo! don't forget to comment on the giveaway post below to get your name in the drawing for one of 2 spots in shimelle's journal your christmas class. i'm drawing sunday night and the winners will hear from shimelle shortly after that.
alright, have a great day! hope you find some great deals, if you're a black friday shopper, but please stay out of my way in line at starbucks this morning. LOL! some of us are heading to work.
hello! sorry it's so late. i was doing my normal post this morning and had a little computer trouble and lost the whole post. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr... so, this will be an abbreviated version. (can't type it all again, nor, do i remember what all i wrote. it was witty, though. LOL! i can assure you!)
happy thanksgiving eve, to those of you in the US. turkey day tomorrow! woohoo! LOL! we're going to my sister in laws, who lives down the street. i'm bringing a caesar salad and a cream corn casserole, that has NO creamed corn in it whatsoever! it's got corn and cream, though. and, lots of cheese. what are you bringing to the thanksgiving table?
yesterday with julie was a blast. she called it the trifecta and she was right. you can read about it on her blog. here's a pic of her at lunch i took with my phone. this is straight out of the phone. no editing. sorry about the back light. but, what choice did i have in that situation? btw, she LOVES that cheese bread appetizer. loves it!
2009 i LOVE this divided page. those are my favorites in all the books. if i knew i wouldn't get bored, i'd do divided pages for every entry in my book. :)
now, the giveaway... i've been talking journal your christmas for a couple months now and guess what, i'm giving away 2 spots on my blog this thanksgiving weekend! i'm so grateful to know a girl like shimelle who has these amazing classes and is so generous and sweet to give a couple spots away.
so, here's the details... comment on this post and i'll draw 2 names on monday morning. tell me what your favorite holiday tradition is, to enter. (mine is JYC) please include your email address with your post so i can forward it on to shimelle to get the winners all signed up for class before it officially starts.
eta: this giveaway is over. thanks for sharing all of your awesome holiday traditions. :)
and, if you want to learn more about the class and sign up, go here. you will NOT be disappointed, i promise!
have a great thanksgiving eve. i'll see you tomorrow!
super cold. not quite alaska cold, but cold none the less. i lived in alaska when i was a teenager and i've seen COLD. this is not it (alaska cold, i mean), but 15-20 degrees with winds of 30-40mph is pretty cold.
i am LOVING my uggs! it's so weird to be out in this cold barefoot! barefoot is definitely best, though. i tried socks and my feet were colder and they kept sliding down. LOL!
jyc past entries continues...
have a fabulous day! stay warm, if it's cold where you are. i'm headed to lynden to meet julie for starbucks, thrift store and a friendsgiving lunch.
good morning! happy sunday! today we start doubling up the jyc entries from 2008 & 2009. we're on the home stretch! are you getting your books ready for dec 1? i'm getting there. i need to take some photos and share it with you all!
yep it snowed last night. it doesn't look like too much but it really windy right now and that makes for some big drifts. i guess i will need to leave a little earlier this morning for work. oh well. that's why i got the studded snow tires a few years ago and i'm just so excited i get finally get to wear my uggs!
2006 this is the last entry for the 2006 book.
2009 ok, it's time to get going. i've got to dress and head out in the snow. :)
have a great saturday and i'll see you tomorrow, when we start doubling up the JYC days so we can get through them before dec 1. :)
i came back tonight to post a couple extra special things. :)
first, my friend julie, was chosen by teresa collins for her new design team!!!! woohoo!!!! can you tell i'm excited? i'm sooooooooooooooo proud of this girl! her projects are AMAZING! she deserves something like this. REALLY!!!! wait until you see the projects. they will blow you away! please head over to her blog and give her a high five! and, check out teresa's blog in the morning, i think you might get to see julie's amazing stuff. ;)
second, i wanted to post my project i did for shimelle's true stories class, that just ended. i created a mini book. big surprise, i know. ;)
i love how it turned out. :)
have a good night. see you in the morning with more journal your christmas.
we are getting closer and closer to december and the start of the 2010 edition of journal your christmas. and, if you have not joined us yet, i HIGHLY recommend this class. one fee, many years of fun and fabulous christmas memories!
go here to sign up. there's still plenty of time to prepare. :) you don't want to miss out. i promise.
past years' day 18...
2009 not pictured in the 2009 version is a photo collage page of christmas eve photos behind the transparency. LOVE it!
ok. have a fabulous thursday! one week until turkey day!!!! see you tomorrow.
so sorry to be so late today. i started off my day early. heading out with the snow tires in my car to get them put on for the winter. you see, the forecast has some potential flakes later in the week and i cannot be stalled by an early in the season snow storm. i have most of my vacation booked and i can't miss any extras days due to something as insignificant (if the studded snow tires are on the car) as a little winter weather.
anyways, i digress, i get to the tire place about 30 minutes after they open and the guy tells me the wait is 90 mins! WHAT?!! well, it must be done. so i give him the keys and proceed to text steve to let him know i'm walking over to see him on his break.
after the tires, i head to bellingham because my dear mother in law phoned me up last night and wanted me to come over to pick up some photos my nephew's wife sent for us and change the batteries in her blood pressure machine. when i get there, she has remembered she needs me to take her to the lab for a blood draw, but she will buy me coffee as my reward for being a good daughter in law. (she knows me too well. LOL!)
so, i get back home by 1145 or so and then need to leave to go meet my mom for lunch. she's having surgery tomorrow in seattle and i wanted to visit with her before hand. i stayed there until 330 and then it was time to head back to ferndale to get steve from work. (this was the view at the restaurant where we had lunch. next door to my mom's office)
what all this means, i was a wee bit busy today and did not get my blog post up.
until now... :)
journal your christmas, day 17...
2006 i love the word sticker frame i made on this one. :)
it's FINALLY my saturday! i know, you all get tired of hearing it. but, with this schedule of mine, i wait and wait and wait for my weekend. EVERY. WEEK. more than ever. so bear with me. it will only be a few more months. LOL!
as i said earlier, libby's wedding shower was on saturday. i got to play with miss hannah. (florescent lighting, in a church basement, is NO fun.)
and, i got to see mr jackson. :) this boy has really changed. looks like he might be blond and he is looking so much more like his sister, now. see that dimple? so cute! :)
on the JYC front, moving on to day 16...
i finished all my number tags this morning! now, i need to get cutting paper and deciding which items i want to add as additional pages. this thing is coming together. just 2 weeks to go. :)
one last thing, please head over to julie's blog and give her a BIG congrats on making the Teresa Collins DT Finalist list. her projects are amazing and i'm so proud of her! i can't wait to see her name on the official list in a week, or so. :)
have a great tuesday! i'm heading to starbucks to meet julie and then to the thrift store.
today starts the downward motion to the weekend! woohoo!!!! i hope you are all having a fabulous saturday. i'm heading off to work and then to my niece's wedding shower. hopefully i can get some good photos while i'm there. hopefully.
earlier this week i spoke of my new spectacles. julie wanted to see them and thought i would post them on my blog. :) i took a few shots, with my phone, in the car, when it was dusky, to send to her. she said she liked them. here's one of the shots. what do you think? i know i love them. i wish you could see the cool aqua color on the inside here. oh, and they are chocolate brown colored. love them.
i'm still plugging along with the prep of my christmas journal. i made (loosely used term LOL) this for the from cover. it's a tin ornament i deconstructed and added the anna griffin "25" in place of the ugly santa i removed. what do you think? the colors are a bit brighter IRL, but you get the idea. :)
we're up to day 13...
2009 this is the day that got changed in 2008. :) i love the christmas carol pages and the gift delivery ones are awesome, too. more of both to come on day 14. :)
and, look what i found to help. :) these babies are just one other thing i look forward to each holiday season. love them! what special things do you all look forward to during the holidays? things that you can only experience during this time of year? oh, and speaking of...
any candy cane jojo sightings, yet? :)
it's time for day 12...
2008 speaking of candy cane jojos, that paper bag scrap i used for a frame is a trader joe's shopping bag.
2009 i think 2008 & 2009 are tie for favorites here. i just can't decide. which is your favorite?
ok. have a fabulous friday and i'll see you all tomorrow!
oh, how the weekends go so fast. it's already "monday" in my world and i've got a full week ahead of me, with a bridal shower after work on saturday. that should be fun, though. i cannot believe my niece is getting married in 3 weeks. CRAZY! it wasn't that long ago when i used to take her on little adventures. just me an her. the santa cruise on a very cold december day, when she was about 6, comes to mind. :)
is it already day 11???
2009 i think it's a tie here. i can't pick between 2008 & 2009. :)
happy veteran's day. thank you to all who have and do serve. we don't appreciate you enough.
and i'm just now getting to my blog post for the day. i'm sorry for the delay, but sometimes life gets in the way. LOL! i got a call from my eye doctor's office and had to make a quick trip into town to pick up MY NEW GLASSES! :) a whole week early! now that's service! and, i LOVE them!
yesterday was a good day at the thrift store. it was an all tmie highest total of 17 bucks and some change. LOL!!! i got 3 really cool jars (2 with glass lids), a bunch of cool christmas stuff (including a couple bottle brush trees and a little nativity) and a full set of 4 pyrex cinderella mixing bowls in perfect condition. not my color, but such a good deal i might just sell them to someone who will LOVE them.
moving on to the christmas journals of the past. day 10...
it's finally monday and in my world, you all know, that means it's FRIDAY! woohoo!!! i've got plans this weekend to work on my numbers for my christmas journal.
here's a hipstamatic peek at what they look like... i took a few pics with the "real" camera, too. they are still on the card, though. i'll post them tomorrow. too give you an idea, they are gray shipping tags, clear embossed numbers and little felt christmas trees. perfect! :)
here's day 8...
2009 2009 is definitely my favorite of this bunch. i love the colors and that issue of country living is a really good one. i've still got it in my christmas box with all of my others.
do any of you save the holiday issues of your favorite magazines year after year?
good morning! it's friday! and, for many of you with a "normal" schedule that means it's almost the weekend! for me, that means it's tuesday. but, tomorrow is the holiday market at treasury i mentioned yesterday and i'm getting off work early to attend with my mom. i can't wait! it should be a fun time. :)
i don't know how many of you are following julie and her thankful book this month, but i decided to do a little grateful book myself this year. it's pretty simple. i picture a day, with the hipstamatic app on my ipod touch, of something i'm grateful for that day. i think i am loving it!
here's a snap of the cover... i'll show you more as the month progresses. if you are not following julie and her book this month, you really need to check out her blog. she is posting a prompt a day of something to be thankful for and here book is fabulous! (you have to scroll down to nov 1 to start from the beginning with her cover and the first prompt)
next order of business, journal your christmas. shimelle has been posting some great info about getting ready for december and the JYC project. if you do not have a solid plan, i definitely recommend reading her blog for. she's got some awesome suggestions to get you thinking and getting ready for the fun of december. i wish i had known about the cool pink paislee book before i made my commitments to my stash. :)
moving on to day 5... 2006
2009 i love my advent calendar from starbucks. :) i'm just saying...
happy wednesday! it's going to be a busy day. in my life and, on the blog...
red cups are here!!! imagine my surprise when julie and i walked into starbucks yesterday morning and these babies were waiting for us. and, holiday drinks are available, too! hello, eggnog, my old friend. :)
holiday market @the treasury warehouse... i'm so excited for the holiday market this saturday! i can't wait to see what the girls have put together. all you local girls HAVE to go. i promise you will NOT be disappointed.
here's the details... when: Saturday, November 6th from 10am to 4pm where: the Treasury Warehouse what: Beautiful, unique photo decor gifts from Carly Tee and holiday paper crafting kits, vinyl and canvas from your Treasury gals. Plus tons of holiday inspiration! admission: FREE!
journal your christmas... yep. it's official. the season has begun and if you are not a JYC alumni, you MUST sign up here. i promise you will not be disappointed. (i'm making a lot of promises today, aren't i?)
and, to get you in the JYC mood. more past entries of mine...
day 3... 2006
2009 ok. have a great wednesday. i'm off to the eye doctor (new glasses are in my future. yay!) and to a hair appointment.
happy tuesday! it's my saturday and it's thrift store day with julie! yay! we've got a few other stops in mind for the morning, too. wish us luck on finding treasures. :)
today is also election day, here in the good ole USofA. i've got our ballots all ready to drop off at the library today. this one is a big one. not the president but there are some important initiatives on our ballot and the congress might be at a turning point. so, i say, "get out and vote". it's a right we should all be grateful for and should take advantage of.
more journal your christmas... (day 2)
2009 will it snow this year? that's always the question. i sure hope so...
